Author and Church History lecturer returns to the pulpit in Philadelphia, with upcoming stops in Los Angeles and Coatesville
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Dr. Vince Bantu, an author and lecturer known for his work on African Church History and global Christian identity, preached at Word Formed Church in Philadelphia on July 12, 2026. The message marked the latest stop in a summer packed with speaking engagements for Dr. Bantu, whose work centers on the history, identity, and global reach of the Church.
Word Formed Church welcomed Dr. Bantu as part of its ongoing effort to bring a range of voices in Church History and global Christian identity before its congregation. Dr. Bantu’s message drew on themes he has explored throughout his published work, podcast appearances, and public lectures: the depth of the Church’s roots across Africa, the significance of marginalized communities within the broader Church, and the call to a global, culturally rooted faith.
“It’s always a joy to preach alongside a congregation eager to engage with the full, global story of the Church,” said Dr. Bantu of his time at Word Formed Church. “I’m grateful for the welcome and looking forward to what’s ahead this summer.”
The Philadelphia visit is one stop on a summer calendar of appearances for Dr. Bantu. He is next scheduled to join The St. Shenouda Society & UCLA Conference on Coptic Studies, taking place July 17–18, 2026, at UCLA in Los Angeles, California, an annual gathering focused on Coptic Studies and the history of the Church across Africa and the Middle East.
Following the Los Angeles conference, Dr. Bantu will return to the pulpit for a two-part preaching series at New Life in Christ Church in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, with appearances scheduled for August 2 and August 9, 2026.
